Fortunately, Canada offers Visa-exempt entry to citizens of many countries making travel to Canada more convenient and accessible. If you hold a passport from one of these countries, you can enter Canada for tourism, business, or transit purposes without needing a visa.


Some of the visa-exempt countries for Canada include:


United States:

Citizens of the United States, including U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders), do not require a visa to enter Canada for most purposes.

United Kingdom:

Citizens of the United Kingdom, including British Overseas Territories Citizens, can visit Canada for up to six months without a visa.

Germany:

German citizens can enjoy visa-free travel to Canada for up to six months.

France:

French passport holders can visit Canada for tourism or business purposes for stays of up to six months without a visa.

Australia:

Australian citizens can enter Canada as tourists or for business purposes without a visa for up to six months.

Japan:

Japanese citizens can visit Canada without a visa for stays of up to six months for tourism, business, or transit.

South Korea:

South Korean passport holders can enjoy visa-exempt entry to Canada for stays of up to six months.

Mexico:

Mexican citizens can travel to Canada without a visa for stays of up to six months for tourism or business.

Brazil:

Brazilian passport holders can visit Canada for tourism or business purposes for stays of up to six months without a visa.

Singapore:

Singaporean citizens can enter Canada for tourism, business, or transit without a visa for stays of up to six months.

Canada is expanding its list of non visa countries by adding new countries to that list. Travellers from these countries who have either held a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or who currently hold a valid United States non-immigrant visa can now apply for an eTA instead of a visa when travelling to Canada by air. Effective June 6th, 2023, eligible travellers from these countries can benefit from the program:

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Argentina
  • Costa Rica
  • Morocco
  • Panama
  • Philippines
  • St. Kitts and Nevis
  • St. Lucia
  • St. Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Seychelles
  • Thailand
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Uruguay

Please note that the visa exemption may have certain conditions and limitations, such as the purpose and duration of your stay. 

Note that this visa exemption allows business people to obtain their Work permit under the Intra-Company Transferee Program and the C-11 International Mobility Program much faster.
